Many of the center’s several thousand fluorescent lighting fixtures were nearing the end of their usable life, requiring round the clock maintenance teams just to keep the lights on. The lighting controls in many area’s were no longer operational leaving lights on 24/7 in area’s hardly ever used used. The lighting had become inefficient, unreliable & expensive to maintain. The brief was to replace thousands of fluorescent lighting fixtures for modern, energy efficient LED fittings, implement operational efficiency, repair & replace lighting control & monitoring systems which were in desperate need of attention & ultimately save the client money.

The project threw up many challenges which our expertise enabled us to deal with without disruption to the day to day operation of the center. The external roof works was carried out during the cold & wet winter months. The car park works had to deal with heavy traffic during the Christmas crowds & the back of house works had to be carried out whilst maintaining critical light & access to fire escape routes. Our knowledge of the vast building & the way it operates allowed us to carry out the works in the background whilst the center operated as normal.

Simplified controls on the huge roof area with less to go wrong & repair in future. Intelligent emergency lighting which self monitors to report back safety critical information. Massively reduced maintenance requirements.

Westfield London faced significant challenges with its multi-storey car park lighting system.
