The Ultimate Guide to Claiming Your OZEV EV Charger Grant (2025)

October 21, 2025

Make the switch to electric easier - and more affordable with expert help from Nu Electrics.

As electric vehicles (EVs) become the new normal on UK roads, government support like the OZEV Grant (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) can make installing your EV charger at home or work significantly more affordable. But navigating the grant process can be confusing - that's where we come in.

At Nu Electrics, we’ve helped hundreds of homeowners, landlords, businesses, and public sector organisations across London and the South East access government-backed incentives to go electric. In this guide, we break down everything you need to know about the OZEV scheme and how to apply for it.

What is the OZEV Grant?

The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant is a government initiative offering up to £350 off the cost of purchasing and installing an eligible EV home charging point. While the original “EVHS” grant closed for most homeowners, the current scheme is still available to:

  • Landlords
  • Tenants in rental properties
  • Flat owners
  • Businesses
  • Charities and public sector organisations

This grant is now part of a wider strategy to support zero-emission transport and encourage wider adoption of electric vehicles.

OZEV for Landlords, Flats & Rental Properties

If you're a landlord or live in a flat or rental property, you may still be eligible. Key criteria:

  • You own or rent the property
  • You have access to off-street parking
  • You have an eligible vehicle or intend to get one
  • The installer must be OZEV-authorised (Nu Electrics is )

This scheme is ideal for landlords who want to increase property value and offer tenants a sustainable perk—plus the ability to generate revenue from EV usage via smart charger technology.

OZEV for Businesses & Workplaces

If you're a business or public sector organisation, the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) can cover up to £14,000 in total (up to 40 charging sockets at £350 each). Eligibility requires:

  • Being a registered business, charity, or public sector organisation
  • Parking spaces reserved for staff or fleet use
  • Use of an OZEV-approved installer (like us!)
  • Evidence of need for EV chargers - whether for fleet vehicles or employees

Installing chargers at your premises is a great way to:

  • Support staff with EVs
  • Prepare for incoming sustainability requirements
  • Claim tax and energy efficiency incentives
  • Generate revenue through charge point usage

Deadlines & What’s Changing in 2025

While there’s no fixed end-date yet, government funding is finite, and the application criteria are changing regularly. With growing demand, delays are expected, and funding may be restructured or phased out.

Don’t leave it too late - get your application started while funding is still available.

Nu-Electrics has attended a number of Supply Cross River 2 (SXR2) events since joining the programme last year. These include workshops, Meet the Buyer events as well as receiving 1:1 support on a range of business development topics from assistance with preparing tenders to help & advice on preparation of company policies. This new knowledge has given them the confidence to tender for work which wouldn’t have been possible a few years ago. Nu-Electrics successfully got through the PQQ stage and were asked to tender. In January 2015 they won the contract which was worth around £7,000. They are now on the approved contractor framework at Westfield which has already created further tender opportunities with a second contract of a similar size already underway. It has helped us prepare for the CHAS accreditation too which is priceless in today’s environment. We are looking forward to using this new found knowledge to help us continue to grow as a company by bidding for larger and more diverse contracts." Chris Scranney Nu-Electrics, Director
